06/09/2019 to 08/09/2019 AGATHA CHRISTIE WEEKEND

Discover the real life of world-renowned author Agatha Christie in the ancient town of Wallingford and its neighbouring parish of Cholsey, where she lived quietly as 'Mrs Mallowan' from 1934 until her death in 1976 and wrote many of her novels. Wallingford is an historic market town on the River Thames, founded in the 9th century. Its Saxon town ramparts are the best surviving in England. Wallingford links to Cholsey through beautiful countryside with a heritage railway line and a footpath alongside. The path is known as the Agatha Christie Trail and runs from her home to her burial place. Agatha Christie and her husband Max Mallowan are buried in the churchyard of Cholsey's Parish Church founded in the 10th century. Appropriately, both Wallingford and Cholsey have also provided settings for the popular television series 'Midsomer Murders'.
