23/03/2019 READING SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SPRING CONCERT - ROSSINI, BEETHOVEN, STRAUSS

For our Spring concert, we are delighted to welcome back Eloisa-Fleur Thom who will be performing Beethovenís dazzling Violin Concerto. Eloisa-Fleur, a prize-winning violinist, director and curator, has performed with stars as diverse as Maxim Vengerov and Radiohead and her playing is truly stunning. The second half of the concert will feature Richard Straussí monumental Death and Transfiguration. The music depicts a dying artistís memories of his life, from childhood innocence to the struggles of manhood and the attainment of worldly goals, to transfiguration at the gates of heaven. The concert will begin with Rossiniís sparkling Semiramide overture and end with Johann Strauss IIís Emperor Waltz.

Superlative performers Jon Whitley and Jay LabouchardiŤre of Ninebarrow make a triumphant return to Dunsden Village Hall, 15 months after their last sell-out performance. Ninebarrow's new record, The Waters and the Wild reached Number 2 in Amazonís Folk Best-Seller chart in June 2018. The 11-track album highlights displays the duoís beautiful vocal harmonies wrapped in lush, sensitive arrangements and flawless musicianship. Awarded 5-stars in both The Morning Star and the English Folk Dance & Song Societyís EDS Magazine, the album has received airplay on BBC Radios 2, 3, 6 Music, Wales and Scotland. Folk luminary, Mike Harding, has hailed it as Ďabsolutely monumentalí. Forget the 'folk' label if you're not a fan of the genre. This is pure music at its best. Try it! If you're a diehard folk fan, you're in for a treat.
