05/03/2019 to 20/04/2019 ART EXHIBITION - LIFE ON A SPECTRUM
 ARLINGTON ARTS, NEWBURY

Abstract art exhibition ‘Life on a Spectrum’ explores autism through the eyes of an autistic artist through the visual form of mixed media on paper. The show at Arlington Arts brings together two collections to form Amatina’s newest exhibit ‘Life on a Spectrum’. The first is ‘Autismo 25’, which uses the Spanish word for autism; ‘autismo’ as it was created while taking part in Hannacc artist residency in Spain - but also acts as a reminder that autism is a global condition and something that affects people regardless of where we are in the world. While ‘NYC 14’ is Amatina’s latest work undertaken in New York City as a result of obtaining the Arts Council England ‘Developing your Creative Practice’ funding. My vision is colour. My heartbeat is rhyme. My mind expands with bursts of line, shape, and form. Art imbues each moment of our lives, every cell of our beings. My hands tell my stories as I connect with humanity and explore meaning through creativity and art. The voyage continues...

Superlative performers Jon Whitley and Jay Labouchardière of Ninebarrow make a triumphant return to Dunsden Village Hall, 15 months after their last sell-out performance. 31/03/2019 to 04/04/2019 WILDLIFE OF THE WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY

The photographers participating in this theme have sent us striking images of the widest range of species, from elephants to insects. Many of the images in this exhibition highlight the relationships that species have with their habitats. What shines through is the photographers’ admiration and empathy with the subject, together with their sheer joy and sense of privilege of being able to photograph them. We hope this exhibition will encourage our visitors to make a personal commitment to help preserve our biosphere and its fauna. After all, most of our genes are also found in many animals. It is ignorant of us to ignore our true nature. WILDLIFE OF THE WORLD is a touring photographic exhibition created and supported by The Photographic Angle. Please check website prior to attendance for latest information as dates may be subject to change. Disabled visitors are advised to check with us before visiting an exhibition so that suitable access can be provided.

Birth and Rebirth: Death as a Rite of Passage in Ancient Egypt : Lucia Gahlin For the ancient Egyptians death heralded rebirth into an afterlife. The heavily ritualised period following death enabled the deceased to be reborn into this afterlife. In this lecture, Lucia will explore the rituals that shed light on death as a rite of passage. For the ancient Egyptians, the sequence of conception, birth and early childhood, were mirrored by death, rebirth and the initial stage of journeying into the afterlife (a period of nourishment and protection from danger).

20/04/2019 ROYALS v BRIGHTON - WOMEN'S SUPER LEAGUE

Reading FC Women return to Madejski Stadium this weekend to host Brighton & Hove Albion – and the kick-off time has been brought forward to 1pm on Saturday 20th April. The Royals’ return to RG2 had initially been scheduled for 2pm, but please be aware that kick-off time is now an hour earlier for our Easter fixture. After the heartbreak of an FA Cup exit last weekend, Reading return to league action when they visit bottom side Yeovil on Wednesday, before heading back to Berkshire to host the Seagulls at the weekend. It is the second time this season that the Royals Women will have played at Madejski Stadium; the first ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, so they’ll be aiming to get back to winning ways. The Royals sit in sixth position in English football’s top tier at the moment, four points behind Bristol City, but they have two games in hand over the Vixens as the season nears it conclusion.
